The abrasive strips PS 19 EK – sharp-edged silicon carbide embedded on a robust paper backing
The abrasive strips PS 19 EK come with a hook and loop fastener and are therefore used predominantly on handheld sanders and abrasive blocks with hook and loop lamination. They are equipped with a backing made of rugged paper, which is categorised as E-class paper based on its mass per unit area. Paper grouped in this category is of medium weight since the weight classes range from A to G. A perfect sanding result is guaranteed every time by the abrasive grain silicon carbide. The product of a synthetic manufacturing process, this grain is sure to never lose its outstanding qualities. Silicon carbide is exceptionally hard and sharp-edged. These qualities allow this grain to deliver excellent performance even on extra hard surfaces such as glass or stone. The results it achieves on hard wood are equally exquisite.
The abrasive grain – closely coated and bonded with synthetic resin
The close coating of the grain also plays a key role in the uniform scratch pattern of the abrasive PS 19 EK as it covers the paper backing almost completely with abrasive grain. This large number of grain points ensures a high removal rate while extending the service life of the abrasive at the same time. The same applies to the top size coat, which Klingspor always manufactures using a synthetic resin. Offering strong adhesive force, this coat keeps the abrasive securely in place with the resin base coat. In addition, it supports the silicon carbide against the forces that act on it from the side. These features make the abrasive strips PS 19 EK by Klingspor an effective tool - even on materials that are hard to machine.
